HLWW and The Gathering are pleased to be welcoming Highlander fan and prop-expert Daryl Kyle who also created many of the replica Highlander merchandise for Davis-Panzer.
“I remember seeing the original Highlander film when I was ten years old and I fell in love with the props. Then after the tv show came out, I was a diehard fan and actually my first personal prop I made was a Watchers’ pin! After serving in the army and coming back from a combat tour I decided to try my hand at bigger props and after it caught on, I started with an original Highlander film prop .. the full Kurgan armor!”
Daryl went on to become official prop-maker for Davis-Panzer, creating replica items for the merchandising division – specialising in Highlander props, but also diversifying into Xena and Hercules, being fascinated in how the ‘look’ of an item could be faithfully reproduced efficiently and with style.
While he currently works for the DOD as a federal paramedic instructor, Daryl’s first-love will always be prop-making…and he is looking forward to meeting fellow Highlander fans at the the event and will also be offering a practical hands-on workshop on the Friday…
