Our old friend Anthony De Longis is a whipmaster extraordinaire and the man who brought two memorable Highlander series characters to life – Lymon Kurlow (in the third-season episode Blackmail) and as Ottavio Consone (in the fifth-season episode Duende).
He’s worked on both sides of the camera in countless productions but your latest opportunity is to see him in a truly epic commercial for Jose Cuervo. (The company has a history of high-profile commercials. previously featuring the likes of Kiefer Sutherland and tracks by the Rolling Stones). A version of the new ‘Last Days‘ advertisement, complete with Elvis‘ It’s Now or Never…‘ is currently being broadcast on national television in the States and sees an apocalyptic scenario where the patrons of a bar still manage to have great taste in music and alcohol, even as the world crumbles around them.
A longer cut of the commercial, in which we get to see the fuller story play-out and it gives far more screen-time to Anthony. Though there’s not a whip in sight, we like to think his bartender kept one behind the bar – just in case…
