Highlander WorldWide and The Gathering are delighted to welcome a first-time guest to our conventions, another of the shows key writers, Morrie Ruvinsky…
Morrie came to Highlander straight from the world of features (including The Plastic Mile and Proper Channels) and a single seminal tv series (Misfits of Science) and found himself instantly immersed in David Abramowitz’s on-going course: The Talmud Comes to Television with a Very Sharp Sword.
His writing credits on Highlander include the likes of The Fighter, The Cross of St. Antoine, Blackmail, Brothers in Arms, The Blitz, The End of Innocence, Black Tower, Unusual Suspects and the finale story Not to Be…
Following Highlander, Morrie made several movies with his wife and partner Alicia, including Going to Kansas City; Rainy Days, Rainy Nights; A Woman Hunted and The Windsor Protocol) and he ran a television series (Myth Quest) along with two of his favorite Highlanders —Gillian Horvath and Donna Lettow. He is currently developing a movie (One-Armed Jo and the Minnesota Massacre) and a limited run ( eight episodes of an-a-yet unnamed dramatic comedy.
In addition to teaching screenwriting at Loyola Marymount University, Morrie’s main focus is literary. His acclaimed debut novel Dream Keeper was an LA Times Best Books, and his first collection of short stories (Meeting God or Something Like It) continues to accrue critical acclaim. A new collection of short stories (The Heart and Other Strangers) comes out this fall, and his long anticipated novel (Agua) is scheduled for late winter.
