CHRISTOPHER LAMBERT RECOVERING AFTER CON ILLS…

While attending the Steel City Convention in Monroeville, Pennsylvania on Saturday 8th August, original Highlander  star Christopher Lambert appeared to suddenly collapse durign his appearance. There was considerable concern about his health and an ambulance was called to the event which took him to a nearby hospital for tests.

As event organisers monitored the situation they informed con-goers that “Christopher Lambert had to leave the event due to a personal issue. Return time TBD. Photo op canceled.”  Details were scarce to begin with, though Lambert’s representative eventually said that the incident was not serious and attributed the collapse to a drop in blood sugar caused by not eating enough on the day and not getting enough sleep. The organisers also stated: “Christopher was feeling a little overheated and dehydrated. He had to sit down, but he is doing great today.”

Initially there were indications that Lambert might return for the Sunday’s scheduled events after taking time to rest and recuperate. However, there was then some confusion as to what a scaled-back appearance might involve. Fans were first told he would be coming in a little later on Sunday doing his scheduled photo-op and autographs but would not undertake the strains of a formal panel. Then it was suggested a panel would be taking place.  By Sunday afternoon, it was decided that due to an abundance of reasonable caution, Lambert would not be returning for the weekend’s events. A formal Facebook post read: “Christopher Lambert is unable to come today. He sends his regrets.”

In the days afterwards he received good wishes for a speedy recovery from fans and previous co-stars, including Highlander 2‘s Virginia Madsen.

Thank you Chris, for a wonderful reunion. Flying all the way from Paris to go right to Steel City Con to greet your fans. So glad you’re feelin alright- even Immortals need a good rest once in awhile,” she wrote in a facebook post.

So far there has been no news about Christopher’s recovery, but he has cancelled appearances at the Fan Expo in Dallas  in mid-September, remains to be confirmed at San Diego Comic Con: Malaga (in Spain) in early October but remains on the confirmed guest-list for the Liverpool Comic-Con in Mid-October, subject to changes.

Everyone at HLWW wishes him well for a full recovery.
